Boating and Coast

Orewa is the gateway to the Hibiscus Coast, and the Hibiscus is a great launching spot from which to enjoy the Hauraki Gulf. Both Orewa and Hatfield’s beaches have boat ramps or for bigger boats, Gulf Harbour marina on the Whangaparoa Peninsula is less than half an hour away.

The Hibiscus Coast is just a short sail across to Kawau or up the coast to Omaha and on the Bream Bay. If surfing is your thing, some of Auckland's best breaks are easily accessible from Ara Hills. Daniel's Reef and Forestry Break just south of Leigh and Te Arai Point south of Mangawhai. It’s only 45 minutes across to the west coast from Ara Hills, and Orewa Beach is on your doorstep is the perfect place to teach the kids.
