Creekwood community garden.

Well Spring and the exciting growing season are upon us once again. After our confusing weather over winter, finally the days are consistently getting a little longer & warmer. It is great to get out into the sunshine and plan out our garden beds. Consider some flowers to perhaps add a bit of color as well as your veggies.

In the Community Garden things are well & truly starting to take off. Brad & Bianca’s Bok Choy is racing along. Koz’s beautiful tomato’s & capsicum are bountiful. She has berry tomatoes growing, which will produce tomatoes larger than cherry, but still smaller then your normal sized tomato. They give off a beautiful fire engine red when ripe & have a sweet flesh. Yum!

We have had reports of a harvest of cauliflower somewhere along the line. It might have only been golf ball size, but it’s exciting considering we planted late & the weather wasn’t very conducive to winter produce; hopefully we have better luck next year. My garden is producing a bumper crop of broccoli seedpods, so you can look forward to free seed packets coming out in the next month or so.

Our kids bug hunt program will officially kick off after next months meet, so make sure you get their names on the list when at the garden meeting.

We welcome new members Sharyn, Leslee, Anjo & Kristy. I am excited to see you all come onboard & look forward to friendships built.

Hope to see you in the garden.

Christine
