Renee 6 design features.

In 2020, COVID-19 turned our worlds upside down, forcing many of us to work from home with little warning. The home quickly became not only an office but also a school, gym, movie theatre, and even a restaurant.

Amidst this unprecedented change, the AVJennings Design Team, in conjunction with the Marketing Team, conducted surveys, focus groups, and workshops to understand how we adapted our homes to meet new demands.

The result of this research was a COVID-19 responsive design prototype, first constructed at AVJennings’ Spring Farm community in NSW. Key features of this innovative design have now been incorporated into the Renee 6 home, currently under construction at Riverton, including:

  • Parcel letterbox – to accommodate increased online shopping.

  • Front verandah – encouraging greater engagement with the neighbourhood.

  • Remote garage door opening app – allowing you to open and monitor the garage door for larger deliveries when away.

  • Keyless entry & entry light sensor – minimizing the need for touching surfaces before sanitising.

  • Sanitisation vestibule – located near the entry with a touchless tap and lighting for handwashing and sanitising.

  • Multi-purpose room – with enhanced acoustics and strengthened walls for various uses such as a home office, homeschooling, exercising, or musical practice.

  • IT/Home Admin nook – a dedicated space within the main living area for computer/device use and charging.

  • Logical zoning – clear separation of living areas, master bedroom, secondary bedrooms, and multi-purpose room.

In keeping with the AVJennings Renee series, the Renee 6 is designed to maximize versatility and meet the changing needs of its occupants over time. It incorporates elements of the Gold Level Liveable Housing Design Guidelines, ensuring the home is easier and safer for all, including the elderly, people with disabilities, and families with young children.

Key liveability features include:

  • A step-free path from the lot entrance to the front door.

  • Wider internal doors and corridors for comfortable movement throughout the home.

  • Conveniently placed door handles and electrical switches for improved accessibility.

  • Generous circulation spaces around fixtures in the bathrooms, kitchen, and laundry.

  • Provision for the future installation of grab-rails in the bathroom, shower, and toilet areas.

The Renee 6 is the sixth home in the Renee series built by AVJennings. Proceeds from its sale will be donated to the Steve Waugh Foundation, which supports children and families living with rare diseases. The home is on track for completion in December 2021.
