Logan Wildlife Association Receives 2025 Riverton Community Grant

7 December 2025

We recently had the pleasure of meeting Chris Gauthier, President of the Logan Wildlife Association, and Dr Joke Hohns, the organisation’s dedicated veterinarian. The Logan Wildlife Association is one of the proud recipients of a 2025 Riverton Community Grant, recognised for their impactful work rescuing, treating, and advocating for our region’s native wildlife.

This funding has been used to purchase a veterinary-grade anaesthesia machine—an essential piece of equipment that allows the safe and effective treatment of injured, sick, and orphaned animals. Anaesthesia plays a vital role in enabling surgeries, thorough examinations, and stress-free procedures. Many of the animals rescued—such as koalas, possums, kangaroos, and native bird species—require delicate care that simply isn’t possible without the right sedation and monitoring equipment.

The Logan Wildlife Association currently works from the Currumbin Wildlife Hospital, but exciting plans are underway. The team has been working with Logan City Council to establish a new Wildlife Hospital closer to Jimboomba, ensuring faster treatment times and increased support for local wildlife.

With the Logan region continuing to grow, and with more frequent extreme weather events placing additional pressure on native species, the work carried out by the Logan Wildlife Association has never been more important.

Riverton is proud to help the Logan Wildlife Association through our 2025 Community Grants program.
