The celebration kicks off at 5:00pm with a relaxed BBQ in the area behind the main venue near the playground's flying fox, where children can enjoy entertainment and activities while parents unwind. A favourite among local families, the Whittlesea Christmas Festival returns on Saturday, 13 December 2025 (4pm–9pm) at the Whittlesea Showgrounds. 

This vibrant festival draws up to 4,000 people and brings together two key experiences:

·         A Christmas Tree Extravaganza featuring more than 50 beautifully decorated trees.

·         A twilight market with 70+ stalls, food trucks and local makers offering a festive feast for the senses.

Enjoy delicious food trucks, and plenty of live performances and family activities. It’s a joyful way to kick off the festive season close to home.

Carols by Candlelight – A Magical Evening Under the Stars
Bring the family together for one of the most cherished events of the year: Carols by Candlelight, hosted by the City of Whittlesea.

This much-loved community celebration will light up the Civic Centre Lawns (25 Ferres Boulevard, South Morang) on Friday 12 December 2025 from 6pm to 9pm.

Kick off the evening with Team Dream’s festive Christmas show, perfect for kids and families. Then enjoy the beautiful collaboration of the Community Carols Choir and Diamond Valley Brass Band as they fill the night with holiday music. The celebration closes with Glenn Starr and band performing beloved Christmas hits.

Kids can also enjoy face painting, craft workshops, and a special visit from Santa at 8pm.
