Communities Matter.

1 February 2016

Good community development is no accident. We put all our experience into making places where living, relaxing, socialising, exploring and being active comes naturally. Here three of our homeowners share their stories.

Connecting with nature.

Ian and Jenny had decided to downsize, but they weren’t quite sure where to start. That’s the sort of challenge the team in our Hazelcroft community in Victoria relish.

“The AVJennings team were great to work with, very helpful. They wanted to understand exactly what we were looking for and then they took us through the many options they had in the Hazelcroft development.” In the end, Ian and Jenny purchased a home with a story – The Renee 3 but the home wasn’t the only source of stories. One of the attractions of the Hazelcroft community for Ian and Jenny was its series of pocket parks and connecting pathways, which created a haven for their grandchildren to play safely on their bikes. As Ian and Jenny have settled into life at Hazelcroft, they’re enjoying more of the connected spaces and the wildlife it brings, such as the families of ducks setting up home in the creek area. Sounds like a thriving community!

Making new friends.

Homeowners Denis and Christina couldn’t be happier at Magnolia, Hamlyn Terrace after moving from their home in Sydney’s North Shore.

“When we retired, we wanted to find a beautiful place to live. After seeing the designs for the homes at Magnolia, we decided it was the perfect place for us. The home was just what we were looking for with a beautifully planned living space, kitchen, and backyard. And the estate is so well planned and so well done. No two houses are the same. I just can’t wait to come home. It’s a permanent holiday.” As well as the diversity of the homes, Denis and Christina are enjoying their new lives with a broad mix of neighbours of all ages, stages, and cultural backgrounds. “We try to get people together as they move in – maybe we are the social convenors! When walking we often stop and speak to people who are outside their homes or in their front gardens. We have a good laugh, share a few jokes, and enjoy the fresh air”. “I think that Mr A.V. Jennings, if he were alive today, would be so proud of what he started. The AVJennings team have really kept alive the dream of what he wanted to do, of the kinds of homes he wanted to build.”

Active kids Thrive.

As a busy mum with three energetic kids, Jillian understandably doesn’t have a lot of downtime.

So, before she moved into our community at Arcadian Hills in western Sydney, she did her homework to find the type of home and area best suited to the needs of her growing family and their on-the-go natures. “My kids don’t sit down for too long - so I’m keen to wear them out! They love being outdoors and the open space at Arcadian Hills is one of the reasons I chose it. There’s plenty of parks and walking and cycling paths everywhere, so they can get out and run around, ride their bikes, and play soccer. There’s a reserve just behind the house - sometimes the kids jump the fence just to get there quicker!” The size of the community and its location played a part for Jillian too.

“There’s no hustle and bustle here and it feels very safe and very friendly. It’s easy to get in, easy to get out, and the school is only 5 minutes away. Plus, we get stunning scenic views over Camden, and we can watch the hot air balloons from Picton. And AVJennings even threw a Christmas party for the whole neighbourhood!
